Red Devils Games on September 5th and 6th Are Closed to Spectators

Due to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 restrictions set to remain in place until at least Sunday 6 September, and possibly through Sunday and beyond, we regret to inform you that the Red Devils home games on September 5th and 6th will be closed to spectators. If Canterbury moves to Level 1 before a game, we will make a further announcement to let you know if spectators will be allowed.

We understand how disappointing this is, and assure you that we have tried to find suitable alternatives, including postponing the games, but unfortunately we have been forced to make a difficult decision to play the games without the fans the Red Devils love cheering them on.

The good news is the games will still take place and you can watch them streamed live. Please note the game start times:

Saturday, September 5th: 4:35p game start

Sunday, September 6th: 5:00p game start

See the FAQ, below, for further details, including information for ticket holders.

While this is less than ideal, we are happy to be able to play. We hope you will watch the games online and also hope to welcome you back for the home games on October 3rd and 4th.

FAQ

Q: What time are the games being played and are there any other game changes?
The game on Saturday September 5th is expected to start at 4:35p and will utilise a game format with longer run-time periods in order to accommodate facility time constraints. The game on Sunday September 6th will start at 5p and use the usual game format.

Q: I've already purchased tickets, what do I do?
Nothing right now. We will issue you a refund for tickets purchased for these games.

Q: Is there any way to watch the games?
Yes, we are planning to stream the games live online. Check out the New Zealand Ice Hockey League (NZIHL) Facebook page or YouTube channel for more information.

Q: Are any spectators at all allowed in?
It is possible, but not guaranteed, that some immediate family members of the players (partners, parents, children, siblings), may be allowed in on a first-come-first served basis, if room allows. Please do not enter the Alpine Ice Facility prior to 4:15p for either of the games.
